Ironically there is a dichotomy in the world with regards to raising children. First, homes should not contain military arsenal accessible to children or teens. This is a ridiculous interpretation of the Second Amendment. Second we should limit and monitor cell phone and internet usage. After these two things, however, we as parents should do less. We need to back off. Our goal should be to raise self efficacious adults and basically put ourselves out of business.
If we worry too much about self their self esteem, we run the risk of blocking opportunities for growth. Successfully confronting challenges and independently solving the problem builds resilience and healthy self confidence.
