Merry Christmas

Christmas is a season of great joy. It is a time of birth, of healing, and of renewal.

For those of us who count ourselves amongst the lucky ones, it is also a time of great love and abundance, both of gifts and of food!

It is important however, that during this busy holiday season, you remember to take care of yourself. If you don’t take care of yourself, you won’t be able to care for others.

It is very easy to over eat during the holiday season. With so many options, be careful to control your portions. Be also careful to limit your alcohol intake. If you’re going to be drinking throughout the party, drink slowly and alternate non-alcoholic beverages such as a carbonated water.

My universal diet advice is to eat more fiber. To do this, load up on high fiber fruits and vegetables. Especially raw vegetables. You can basically eat as much of these as you want and not gain weight.

If you plan to eat more, and not gain weight, however, you’re simply going to have to burn off more calories. To do this, encourage your family to do some physical activity such as go for a walk. Put on some warm clothes and enjoy the fresh air.

Have a blessed, healthy and Merry Christmas !
